MIDLAND − Artist Sandra Eckstein loves to operate in oil.

Motorcycle fork oil, to be unique. Medium bodyweight, also identified as quality B. She mixes it with overglaze powdered paints to paint on tile and other porcelain.

“When I go to a motorbike shop and request for a few of quarts, I get some strange seems. I’m not a bike chick,” Eckstein explained.

The Industry resident has been picked out as the showcased artist for this year’s Summer time Gallery of the Midland Arts Council. A collection of her performs, which include acrylics on canvas as perfectly as her porcelain paintings, will be on exhibit to accompany the juried artwork show July 1-6 in the Atrium of the Lincoln Park Doing Arts Centre in Midland.

Sandra Eckstein will be the featured artist at this year’s Summer Gallery in Midland, with a display of her works along with entries in the juried art show over the July 4th holiday in the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.

The show is open to all spot artists 17 and more mature. Entries framed and all set for hanging had been to be shipped Tuesday at Lincoln Park.

Eckstein traded quilt-building for lessons in porcelain painting classes when residing in California. It was there she realized the trick of mixing bike fork oil with overglaze powdered paint. “I’ve been using it for 30-some years so I’m snug with it,” mentioned Eckstein.
