Tops That Cover Arms…Yay!
Are your upper arms a problem area for you? Many women reach out and tell me how they want to cover their arms during the spring and summer months but worry about getting too hot. I love a sleeveless top, but lately, I want to cover my arms too. I haven’t been doing my regular Tracy Anderson workouts so I’m feeling kinda puffy. So, for those that want some arm coverage without adding heat or compromising style… this is the post for you! Keep scrolling for all my warm weather favorites.
If you missed it, you should check out this video on how to hide flabby arms.
This top might look black in the photos but it’s actually a beautiful navy blue! I’ve always been a fan of the navy and white combo…especially for summer. This top is ideal for hiding your arms, yes, but it is also perfect for hiding a tummy. It’s a faux wrap style with a flutter hem AND a v-neck. Flattering X 3! There are so many pretty details too…like the ruched cuff and neckline embellishments. If you buy just one new top this summer, this is the one! And…don’t wait because as I write this, it’s currently on sale for 50% off AND available in all sizes.
I really used to steer away from prints, but lately, I’m loving them…especially pretty florals. The key for me is finding a small-scale print that isn’t overwhelming, like this floral Ba&sh blouse. The elbow sleeve length is so perfect…a little longer than standard short sleeve, but not quite a 3/4 sleeve, with ruffled elastic cuffs. It’s light and airy and has buttons all the way down the front. I’m wearing it with a pair of olive, Ted Baker shorts but it would look great with regular blue denim or white shorts and jeans too.
Nation LTD is hands down one of my favorite brands for elevated t-shirts. The quality is excellent but it’s the special little details like the elastic cuff, ruffled collar, and blouson sleeves that keep me coming back for more. In fact, the whole Busbee Style team has embraced this brand! The t-shirts are thin enough to keep you cool in the summer and work perfectly with a half-tuck…without adding any bulk. But they’re also wonderful to layer in cooler months under a jacket or sweater. An all-season t-shirt. A +, +!
#4) Maje Lace Top
A fresh white blouse for summer is a wardrobe basic must-have. This gorgeous lace blouse by Maje isn’t made of that scratchy lace you sometimes find with some brands. It’s incredibly soft and I love all the feminine details including the puff shoulder and the pointed collar. I paired it with a flattering pair of Mother denim that elongates your legs with the high waist and flared silhouette. And on my feet, a pair of on-trend, woven mules. I like pairing really feminine pieces with denim to add some edge.
Another great white blouse for summer is this crochet-detail blouse by Ba&sh. It has a semi-high neck and the prettiest mother of pearl buttons. It’s 100% cotton so it’s very lightweight and breezy. The slight peplum hem is great for hiding a tummy, but you could also do a front tuck. I’ve been wearing this top with jeans mostly, but I can’t wait to pair it with shorts when the weather warms up here in Telluride!
This billowy, pink striped Zadig & Voltaire button-down is designed for an oversized fit, but not overly so. It’s just relaxed and lightweight enough to be that perfect summer blouse. You can roll up the sleeves and tuck it in or leave it open over a cami with shorts or jeans. I ordered my normal size and love it, but you can size down if you want it slightly more fitted. The ‘Amour’ graphic on the back…just more to love!
You may have noticed I’ve added a few pieces from Ba&sh to my wardrobe lately. I love their focus on sustainability and the quality of their pieces is top-notch. I wore this gorgeous black embroidered top on my recent trip to the Middle East. The gathered short sleeves have a mild balloon shape…a detail I love. The back has a sexy open v shape with an adjustable tie. I would wear nippies under it but you could also wear a black or white cami for a bit more coverage depending on your comfort level.
#8) Misa Nora Top
This lightweight top from Misa is the perfect warm-weather blouse because it is super thin and lightweight. It’s pretty sheer so you could wear a white or nude cami underneath it. The blue print is so fresh and lovely for spring/summer! It’s long enough to cover your bottom but since it’s so lightweight, you could easily tuck it into your pants, jeans, or shorts without adding any bulk. It also layers beautifully under a jacket or sweater. If you don’t already have one summery print top, this is a great option!
This top is featured in our spring/summer capsule wardrobe which you can check out here. If you’d like to receive a lookbook of 40+ summer outfits including this top and SO much more, be sure to sign up for our newsletter here.
This gorgeous, LoveShackFancy blouse just makes me happy…all the feminine details, the vintage-y floral print, the crochet trim, the puff shoulder…there’s a lot to love. The angled sleeve detail and covered buttons are high-end touches that really make this a special piece. It’s a summer stunner that not only covers your arms but just looks so elegant and luxe! I styled it with light denim, my reversible Valentino belt, and Dean Davidson classic gold hoops that are perfect for hot summer days when you want to wear your hair up. By the way…you can get 25% off the earrings with the code BUSBEEDD25. I’ve been wearing mine nonstop!
So, I mentioned my love of Nation LTD tops. I always say if you find a brand you love, stick with it! This is not just your basic white t-shirt. The sleeve length is perfect for covering your arms and the tie detail at the sleeve is unexpected and interesting. It has a v-neck which is kinda tough to see in the photo. I find v-necks to be very flattering so when I find a high-quality v-neck tee like this, I scoop it up quickly. When I talk about those wardrobe basics that create the foundation of your wardrobe, this is what I’m talking about!
If you follow me on Instagram or here on the blog, you’ve seen this Rails button-down shirt A LOT! It’s super lightweight, breathable, and easy to tuck in, leave out, or tie in the front. I’ve styled it with jeans and shorts and it really is the perfect summer top! Plus, your arms are completely covered but you don’t get hot. This is body-skimming and quite flattering. When I’m traveling, I always seem to reach for this Rails top. When I talk about buying quality pieces that last (a LONG time!) this is a perfect example! It’s also available in 8 colors…
#12) Gauzy Blue Blouse
This gauzy 100% cotton top is lightweight and breathable, a beautiful color, and long enough to cover your bottom! I styled it with a pair of flared white jeans and wedges. I love the drop shoulder and cool raw hem detail. You could wear this top all summer long with white jeans, denim jeans, or cotton shorts…even as a swim coverup. This was one of the items I took on our trip to Mexico last spring. This exact top by 9 Seed is sold out but I found a very similar one by Michael Stars in the same gorgeous shade of blue.
This is another lightweight button-down shirt from Rails that I’ve had for a few seasons. I have a couple of Rails shirts and I love how soft, lightweight and breathable the fabrics are. This shirt has some interesting details like the beautiful color and raw edge hem. I’m wearing it with a pair of white denim shorts by Agolde but you could also wear it with white or regular jeans. I’ve worn it tied in a knot (shown above), untucked, and front tucked. It’s just a great top for summer!
