Tropical Deluxe Princess is a fully-renovated all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana that offers an outstanding price-value ratio, particularly for those looking for an affordable holiday in the Dominican Republic. The entire resort got completely renovated in 2020 and 2021, making it one of the newest Punta Cana resorts in the lower price range. But there is more than that because you also have access to the entire Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana as well as to the newly-built Beach House, a stunning beach club with some of the most spectacular ocean views in the entire Punta Cana area. If you’d like to read about our experiences at Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess, would like to know why this resort is very suitable for families in Punta Cana and are interested in some of the points which are not 100% perfect, you shall continue reading this extensive Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana review with all the details about this fully-renovated all-inclusive resort.

Where is Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana?
Tropical Deluxe Princess is located in Arena Blanca (which translates to “White Sand”), a part of Punta Cana with a particularly wide and white stretch of beach. It is also very close (approx. 15 minutes walking) to the local entertainment area of Bavaro, Avenida España, with plenty of local bars and businesses. This being said, Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess are two of those all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana where you can leave the resort walking without getting stranded in nowhere.
From the airport in Punta Cana, it is a quick 25-minute drive to reach Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess. Because of ongoing problems between Ubers and taxis at the airport, it is recommended to prebook your airport transfer, either as a private transfer* or a shared airport shuttle*. You can check out all the information on Punta Cana Airport Transfers here.
Like most other all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, Tropical Deluxe Princess hotel is located directly at the beach. Further details about the beach are outlined below in this extensive Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana review.
Overview of Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana
As you might have noted in the first sections of this review, I have mentioned two hotels – Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana and Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana. While both hotels are marketed differently and have indeed been different resorts before Covid-19 hit Punta Cana and the world, they are now the same hotel. While the rooms are still a bit different (Tropical Deluxe Princess rooms are more family-orientated, you can also find further details about this below), Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana and Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana share the same amenities, the same areas and enjoy the same service.
This being said, this Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana review can also be seen as a review about Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana.
It is also important to know that Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana is a resort completely renovated, which you will immediately note when entering the spacious, airy and well-designed lobby, which welcomes you with a modern and very contemporary appearance.
Here, you will immediately feel like being in the Caribbean. The view over the plaza with palm trees rising into the sky, colorful buildings and mangroves in the background set the perfect combination for a first welcome into the Dominican Republic.
Around the lobby, you can find several of Tropical Deluxe Princess’ amenities, such as the new 24/7 sports bar, the theatre, two restaurants, the lobby bar, an ice cream shop and a coffee shop with creperie – everything in a fresh and brand-new design.
Directly attached to the main plaza are the natural mangroves of Punta Cana. There is a beautiful walking trail through this area, where you will see a lot of animals, among them iguanas, turtles, birds, ducks and (on the adjoining lake) flamingos.
You can either pass the mangroves along the trail walking (approx. 4-5 minutes) to get to the other part of Tropical Deluxe Princess Resort or you take the little trolley train, which is running regularly throughout the resort.
Once you have passed the mangroves, you have reached the main part of the Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana and Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana. This is where all the accommodation buildings are located, as well as the further restaurants.
Coming from the lobby and the mangrove area, you’ll find the part of former Tropical Princess Punta Cana on the left side of this all-inclusive resort. This is what can be described as the family area, mainly because it is home to some pretty well-designed family rooms (see further details below in this Tropical Deluxe Princess review when writing about the rooms) and the water park, which is perfect for smaller kids and children up to approx. 8-10 years. It hosts 5 small water slides and a playground with many water games. Kids will love to play the entire day here.
In case you are looking for bigger water parks, you can check out this list of the best resorts in Punta Cana with a water park.
There is another area kids will love and which makes Tropical Deluxe Princess a great family resort in Punta Cana: the minigolf area. It is free to play and located next to the gym and the spa, which are all situated on the Tropical Princess side as well.
Ok, we have the waterpark and the minigolf as two outstanding amenities of Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana but there is another place worth mentioning – and it is without a question my favorite place in the entire resort: the Beach House. It is a newly-built beach club-style building, which houses a bar and a snack restaurant on the ground floor and a well-designed chill-out area with a bar on the second floor. There are tons of cozy seating areas and absolutely gorgeous ocean views, which are breathtaking and one of the best in the entire Punta Cana area. Check out these photos to understand why this is the best place to be at Tropical Deluxe Princess Resort Punta Cana.
Amazing, isn’t it?
The best of this beach club is that it is accessible for everyone (just note that children are not allowed on the second floor) – you don’t need any Platinum booking or Preferred Club membership to access it (as opposed to the sister resort Grand Bavaro Princess, which has a Platinum Club bar on the second floor of their beach club with not less spectacular views).
Right next to the Beach House you’ll find the quiet pool, which is usually without guided activities. On the other side of the resort (the right side when coming from the mangroves – the part which was Caribe Club Princess before), you’ll find the main restaurant area with 4 à-la-carte restaurants, the buffet restaurant and a couple of bars.
You can also find all of the Caribe Deluxe Princess rooms’ here as well as the main pool of Tropical Deluxe and Caribe Deluxe Princess – the one with a swim-up bar, sufficient sun loungers and daily activities.
Just as a reminder, don’t focus too much on which area is part of Caribe Deluxe Princess and which one is Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana. Both resorts are seamlessly connected and it doesn’t matter in which room category you’re staying, you can use both parts of the resort without a problem. That’s also why it doesn’t matter if this Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana review is talking about Tropical Princess or Caribe Princess – all information mentioned are valid for both hotels.
Finally, you are reaching the beach of Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana, which is located right next to the Beach House respectively adjacent to the two big pools, the quiet pool and the main pool.
The beach at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana
And this Tropical Deluxe Princess beach is pure heaven! It is enormously wide (much wider than the average of Punta Canas’ beaches) and has fine sand and pretty shallow water at the beginning, which makes it perfect for families, even though it was pretty windy (and therefore a bit choppy) the days we visited.
It’s not surprising that the beach here at Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Club Princess Punta Cana is top-notch. It is part of Bavaro Beach, which is widely known as one of the best beaches in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic.
The Tropical Deluxe Princess beach is around 600 feet long and more than 200 feet wide – that’s impressive. There are more than enough sun loungers, which is also due to the fact that the Preferred Club area, which is called Platinum at Tropical Deluxe Princess, is reasonably sized and not too big. This area for Platinum members also features a beach club and a separate beach restaurant.
The beach here at Caribe Deluxe Princess and Tropical Deluxe Princess is also perfect for a long beach walk in Punta Cana, as this is part of one of the longest beaches in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic. If walking south, you have around 5 miles passing many different Punta Cana all-inclusive resorts as well as a few public restaurants and bars. Walking north, you are also passing all the hotels beachside for around 3.5 miles (Hard Rock Punta Cana and RIU República are the last ones), before reaching a pristine stretch of beach for another 3.5 miles.
The rooms at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana
In total, together with the approx. 350 rooms on the Caribe Deluxe side, Tropical Deluxe Princess features around 650 rooms. Even though the resort property is pretty big considering the large mangrove area, all rooms are located in the area between the mangroves and the beach, hence from your room, it is never more than 3 minutes walking to the beach. The room furthest away from the beach is only 700 feet away, from many rooms it is not more than 1-2 minutes walking.
As mentioned before in this Tropical Deluxe Princess review, all rooms at this resort are completely renovated and very modern with contemporary design and beautiful decorations. Especially considering that this is one of the cheaper resorts in Punta Cana, you are getting awesome rooms for little money.
In total, you can choose between 6 room categories – 3 on the Tropical Princess side and 3 on the Caribe Princess side, even though the standard category and the honeymoon category on each side are very similar.
The Tropical Deluxe Princess room categories are as follows:
- Tropical Caribe Room
- Tropical Family Suite
- Honeymoon Suite Button Check Room Details The Caribe Deluxe Princess room categories are as follows:
- Caribe Deluxe Room
- Caribe Deluxe Suite
- Honeymoon Suite Button Check Room Details
We stayed in a Caribe Deluxe Suite, which was wonderful. Especially the colorful and tropical design made us feel very welcome, along with the comfy bed and the wonderful decoration.
The bathroom was separated into an open area with a sink and mirrors, a separate toilet and a separate shower. There was a seating area with a sofa, coffee-making facilities and a stocked minibar (soft drinks, water and beer). However, the best of our room was the balcony with an amazing ocean view.
Just note that there is no specific ocean view category among the Tropical Deluxe Princess or Caribe Deluxe Princess rooms. Therefore, you can only make a request when booking your room that you’d like to have a room as close to the ocean as possible – obviously, this can’t be guaranteed and always depends on the occupancy of the hotel.
Another room category that really caught my attention is the Tropical Family Suite. Those are consisting of a bedroom with a double bed as well as a bunk bed in a separated living area. The family suite, which is – similar to the entire Punta Cana resort – very affordable, has two fully equipped bathrooms (with a sink, toilet and shower in each bathroom), hence the parents can enjoy full privacy while their kids have their own access to the bathroom. This is pretty rare in Punta Canas’ family resorts, as most family rooms have only one bathroom.
Furthermore, those family rooms also feature a very attractive design with contemporary art elements, hence you can feel at home in those cozy rooms.
Booking and Prices at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana
Like many other all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, Tropical Deluxe Princess is bookable through various websites, travel agencies and booking engines. A few of the most recommendable companies to book with including their perks and advantages can be found in the following table:
(mobile users: please turn your device to landscape mode to enjoy the best view of this table)
What sets Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana apart from a regular resort booking is that you also shall check the prices of Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana. As mentioned in this Tropical Deluxe Princess (and Caribe Deluxe Princess) review, both hotels share the same amenities and services, hence it doesn’t matter which of both hotels you are going to book. When I was researching prices, some websites had the same prices for both hotels in all scenarios (for example at Booking* or Apple Vacations*), while particularly Expedia* priced both hotels differently – sometimes Tropical Princess Punta Cana was cheaper, but on some occasions, the Caribe Princess Hotel had the better price.
This being said, you always should compare the prices between different websites and also between both hotels. That’s why I am also leaving you the booking links for Caribe Deluxe Princess here, so you have direct access to the best prices.
On another note, it is also worth checking the website of Princess Hotels* for the best prices, as they offer certain extra perks which might be interesting for you. If you book directly, you are receiving a bottle of rum, a fruit basket and a welcome cocktail. If you register for free for their My Princess program, you are also receiving an extra discount, which can be up to 20%. In our price-comparison test, the effective discount was 13%.
All those websites, perks and remarks might be pretty confusing – which is why we have done an extensive test to find out who is offering the best prices for Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana. In three different scenarios, we have been checking the prices among some of the best travel websites out there and got very interesting results:
Scenario 1: couple looking for a Punta Cana vacation in low season, lowest room category, 1 December – 8 December
Scenario 2: couple looking for a Punta Cana holiday during high season, lowest room category, 15 February – 22 February
Scenario 3: family (2 adults, 2 children 8 and 14 years) looking for a family holiday at Tropical Deluxe Princess during summer, 15 July – 22 July
(mobile users: please turn your device to landscape mode to enjoy the best view of this table)
All prices were taken on the 18th of May 2022.
All the rates above are based on refundable rates (if not otherwise noted).
As you can see, the pricing policy of Tropical Deluxe Princess is more than interesting. While in some of our all-inclusive resort reviews, such as Dreams Dominicus and Serenade Punta Cana, nearly all the booking websites offer the same prices which are leading to industry-wide price parity, prices for Tropical Deluxe Princess are different on nearly each travel agency and booking website.
Considering all prices, there is no clear winner, but on average, the following three websites had the best prices for Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana:
- trip. com
- Travala
- Hotelscombined
Trip.com* offered the best price of all booking engines twice and is great if you are traveling alone or as a couple. However, as soon as you add kids, prices skyrocket, hence if you traveling as a family to Punta Cana, it is better to use another website. Trip. com is very reliable and you can even collect reward points with them.
Travala* found the best price when traveling as a family to Tropical Deluxe Princess and the second-best price in the other scenarios. Even though Travala is a crypto-backed travel website, you can also pay with a regular credit card. Additional plus: you receive 2% cashback on all your bookings + a 25 USD welcome bonus if you register here*. The cashback is not reflected in the prices above, hence the final price would be even cheaper.
Get your free e-book now – “16 amazing things-to-do for free in Punta Cana”!
Hotelscombined* is a great meta-search engine to find the best hotel prices among dozens of booking platforms. Currently, most of their cheapest search results lead to Traveluro, a booking website with hardly any track record. It is up to you if you’d like to trust this supplier – if not, you can also discard those results and use industry-leading websites such as Expedia, hotels. com or Orbitz through Hotelscombined.
After this “top 3”, a look at the Princess website* with their current prices is also worth a look, especially if you register for their My Princess program which offers in average a 13% discount (with a maximum of up to 20%). This is a great option if you like to book directly hotel without any third parties.
Very important: Prices can vary from one day to another, they might also be different depending on the country where you are located. Make sure to check booking, payment and cancellation conditions, as they might vary widely. It pays off to compare different platforms, but it is also worth to skip some of the cheapest offers if you don’t know and/or trust the company. If booking directly with the hotel or with renowned platforms like Booking or Expedia or leading tour operators like Apple Vacations, Sunwing Vacations or Virgin Holidays, you are usually making a good decision.
When booking your room at Tropical Deluxe Princess or Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana, just take note that you can’t book the Platinum Package online (as opposed to Grand Bavaro Princess and Princess Family Club, where you can book Platinum rooms). If you’d like to enjoy the Platinum services, you can book the Platinum Package on the spot when you arrive directly at the reception.
Restaurants and bars at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana
Considering Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana with around 650 rooms is only a medium-sized resort, there is a surprising choice of restaurant and dining options. In total, the hotel features an impressive array of 12 restaurant and snack options, among them the following:
- Buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Snack restaurant at the beach during the day, incl. lunch (Beach House)
- Dominican à-la-carte restaurant for dinner
- Asian à-la-carte restaurant for dinner (incl. Teppanyaki tables)
- Mexican à-la-carte restaurant for dinner
- Italian à-la-carte restaurant for dinner
- Brazilian à-la-carte restaurant for dinner
- Sports bar incl. bar food menu (24 hours)
- Coffee shop incl. Creperie
- Ice cream shop
Included in those 12 culinary options are two restaurants exclusively for Platinum guests:
- Gourmet à-la-carte restaurant for dinner
- Seafood à-la-carte restaurant for dinner
The choice of restaurants is enormous, hence there is something for everyone. Reservations are needed for all the à-la-carte restaurants for dinner, which can be easily made through the hotel app or guest services. Availability was wide-open, as long as you do the reservation 24 hours in advance. If you reserve on a shorter notice, the popular dining times between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm might be a bit more limited. However, in general, the reservation process was super easy.
The quality of the restaurants at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana absolutely satisfied our expectations, considering that we speak about one of the more affordable resorts in Punta Cana. The à-la-carte restaurants had a good choice of different dishes, which were not 5-diamond cuisine, but they were all tasty and made with love. While the lack of vegetarian options in some of the restaurants was noticeable, we loved our Italian night at “La Trattoria” and the choices of Dominican classics (incl. the lovely decoration) at “El Pilón”.
The buffet restaurant at Tropical Deluxe Princess Resort Punta Cana offered selected dishes and freshly prepared food, such as grilled fish and meats, made-to-order sandwiches or fresh omelets for breakfast. There is no comparison between the super large buffet of its sister resort Grand Bavaro Princess (which is also a much bigger resort) and the hand-selected buffet menu at Caribe Deluxe Princess and Tropical Deluxe Princess. While the buffet food might get a bit boring after one week, it comes with the big advantage that not tons of groceries and prepared food have to be thrown away. Furthermore, it was remarkable at the buffet that most hot dishes, salads and other food items were available in pretty small quantities, which is a great concept as this guarantees a super fresh and steady supply at the buffet without having food that is already on display for 2 hours or more.
When visiting the buffet “Higüero” at Tropical Deluxe Princess, you can enjoy the fully renovated and tastefully decorated outside area when eating. There is no air-conditioned area available for the buffet. However, all the à-la-carte restaurants (except for the Platinum seafood restaurant) are indoor and have aircon.
If you don’t feel like heading for the buffet during the day but still want to eat something, I can highly recommend the Beach House. Actually, it is a must to eat there at least once. While it is only a snack restaurant and choices are more limited than at the main buffet (even though there is more than just hamburger and fries, you’ll find a couple of salads, warm dishes, a few sweets, etc.), the views are amazing. Especially when taking one of the tables right at the beach, you can enjoy an oceanfront lunch at its best.
For further snacks, you can also head to the ice cream shop (with more than 10 flavors to choose from – your kids will love it) or the coffee shop, which – besides different coffee specialties – also offers fresh crepes and a couple of sweet pastries. However, please note that both are located in the lobby area, hence it is a 7-10 minute walk from the beach.
If you fancy a late-night snack or a quick sandwich, wrap or burger throughout any time of the day, you can also head to the sports bar, which is open 24 hours and has multiple screens, where different sports channels and events are shown. You can also find a couple of arcade games there (for an additional charge).
Talking about bars, in total Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana are featuring 9 bars, which is also a lot considering there are only around 650 rooms. Depending on the way you are spending your vacation in Punta Cana, your main bars are most likely the pool bar (incl. the swim-up bar), the Beach House bar (on the ground floor if you are spending time at the beach or the second floor if you’d like to enjoy those marvelous views from Beach House) and the theatre respectively the lobby bar, where its perfect to have a drink in the evening.
A particularly nice spot for having a drink is also a little cozy bar next to the à-la-carte restaurants and the buffet. This bar is only open during the evening but offers an inviting atmosphere for an aperitif or after-dinner drink.
And, again, make sure to visit the Beach House bar. You hardly come across those spectacular views when visiting all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana.
Regarding the quality of drinks, you have all the local drinks included. Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess use no-brand alcohol for their drinks, which isn’t a problem at all, it just doesn’t have the same taste as your favorite premium liquor. However, they have the famous Dominican Presidente beer on tap, do rum drinks with the popular Dominican Brugal rum and serve a basic wine from Spain, hence everyone will find something decent to drink.
Entertainment and service at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana
As already partly mentioned in this Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana review, there are a lot of entertainment options at this budget all-inclusive resort. Among the typical daytime activities with the entertainment team (such as water games, beach volleyball, Zumba or crazy games), you can rent a kayak or Hobie cat at the water sports center (included) and play tennis or basketball at the well-equipped sports courts. In the center of Tropical Deluxe Princess resort, you also find a boule court, table tennis and archery equipment. As mentioned above, there are also a 9-lane minigolf Parcours and a water park, making Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess a perfect family resort in Punta Cana.
But there are even more amenities for families, such as the kids club (3-12 years) or the teens club (12-16 years). The kids club offers a diversified activity schedule throughout the day, such as handicraft workshops, painting, dancing lessons, group games, interactive activities, team games or a mini disco. For the older kids, the teens club features activities such as video games, table football or ping pong.
But also adults won’t get bored at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana. Besides the activities mentioned above, there is a nightly entertainment show at the open-air theatre close to the lobby. Furthermore, sports fans can visit the sports bar and watch their favorite events.
There is WiFi available throughout the resort, even though it disconnects too often (in my opinion) when you are moving around. However, once you are settled in one place it works perfectly fine.
Service was another interesting point at Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess. While it was sometimes a bit slower than expected and you could see that not all processes were streamlined like in some of the most expensive luxury all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, the service at this resort was heartfelt and with personal enthusiasm. Our experience regarding service was perfectly confirmed by another guest who was also staying at (high-end resort) Secrets Cap Cana before who said, that the service here at Tropical Deluxe Princess was much better and personal than at top-notch Secrets Cap Cana. If this isn’t something to be proud about …
Platinum Package (VIP Level) at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana
Like many other all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess offer a VIP level for their guests who are looking for premium services and some extra perks. Here at Princess Resorts, it is called Platinum Package. Contrary to Grand Bavaro Princess, where a Platinum room category can be booked for the VIP perks, at Tropical Princess Resort (and Caribe Princess Resort) the Platinum Package can only be booked on spot.
The Platinum Package comes with the following advantages:
- 2 additional à-la-carte restaurants for dinner (see details in the restaurant section of this Tropical Deluxe Princess review) (1 dinner per week per restaurant included)
- Relaxation pool in the spa area – adults only
- Sauna in the spa
- Beachfront lounge bar and beach club exclusively for Platinum guests
- Exclusive beach area with waiter service
- 24-hour room service
- Personalized check-in, special welcome cocktail and a fruit basket in the room.
- Concierge services
- Daily turndown service
- Beach towels in the room
- Late check-out until 15 h (subject to availability).
- Premium WiFi
- International and Premium drinks included (does not include aged spirits, a la carte wines and champagne)
- 10 % discount on all spa services
- Beach bag (one per room)
- Luxury bathroom toiletries in the room
As with most VIP packages in Punta Canas resorts, you certainly don’t need all of those services, but some of them are indeed nice to have.

In my opinion, the three most important perks of the Platinum Package at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana are:
– the upgraded liquor selection on all the bars, as you have all the international premium brands included with the Platinum Package such as Tanqueray Gin, Jose Cuervo Tequila, Liquor 43, Chivas Regal, Absolut Vodka or Frangelico Liquor.
– the 24h room service (without Platinum Package, room service is not included)
– the two additional restaurants, especially if you love to eat fish (the Platinum seafood restaurant has an extensive menu) or an exquisite cuisine
The price for the Platinum Package currently is 40 USD per person per night for stays of 4 nights or more. If you stay 1-3 nights, the price is 55 USD per person per night. Just note that these prices are subject to change and can be adjusted without further notice.
As mentioned, the Platinum Package of Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana can’t be booked with your room, only on the spot when you are checking in.
Interchanging facilities between Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana, Caribe Deluxe Princess, Grand Bavaro Princess and Punta Cana Princess
In total, there are 5 Princess Resorts in Punta Cana:
As mentioned in this Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana review, guests at Caribe Deluxe Princess and Tropical Deluxe Princess have access to the respectively other resort among those two. All the amenities and services mentioned in this comprehensive review are available for guests of Tropical Deluxe and Caribe Deluxe Princess. However, they don’t have access to the other Princess resorts.
On the other side, guests of other Princess resorts such as Grand Bavaro Princess, Princess Family Club or Punta Cana Princess also don’t have access to the Caribe Deluxe Princess and Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana.
Safety Protocols and Hygiene Standards at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana
Officially, the government of the Dominican Republic terminated all regulations and restrictions because of the Covid-19 pandemic in Punta Cana and the entire country in February 2022. There are no mask obligations anymore in any public buildings and you don’t need a Covid-19 test or vaccination to enter the Dominican Republic (which was never required since 2020).
However, the hotels in Punta Cana are partly still following some of the Covid-19 protocols established during the pandemic, mainly to protect employers and guests, because the Coronavirus is still present in our world. However, restrictions have eased up a lot, so that for example most of the social activities and parties are back to normal. There is also no obligation to wear a face-covering anymore at most resorts, including Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana.
Some of the regulations which are – besides all the sanitations going on behind the scenes – still in effect are:
- all employers are still wearing face masks (and they are indeed wearing them correctly as opposed to other all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana)
- your room gets deep-cleaned and sealed before your arrival
- sanitization kits with face masks and disinfection gel are provided within your room upon arrival
- when visiting the buffet, you get a disposable glove to use when touching the buffet tongs and plates
However, in general, Covid-19 in Punta Cana is not that much of an issue currently. At the time of writing this Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess review, hospital occupation because of Covid-19 is below 1%. In the entire Dominican Republic, only 9 people are hospitalized because of Covid-19 and only 1 person (out of 10 million Dominicans) needs a breathalyzer.
Excursions from Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana
When visiting Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana, it is also recommended to head on some excursions. I am assuming you also want to see some of the beautiful attractions the Dominican Republic has to offer?
The list of possible excursions in Punta Cana is super long. Some of the guests’ favorites are the following tours:
Interested in more of the top-rated excursions? Check out this post about the most exciting tours in Punta Cana.
If you wanna know about my favorite excursions in Punta Cana you shouldn’t miss when staying at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana, here we go.
Isla Saona:
Isla Saona is my top recommendation when it comes to excursions in Punta Cana. The island close to the south coast of the Dominican Republic resembles pure paradise and offers stunning and sometimes unbelievable sceneries.
Pro tip: Book a Saona Discovery excursion* which is visiting more (and particularly off-the-beaten-track) places than the typical Saona party tour.
Los Haitises:
Los Haitises National Park is one of the national parks in the Dominican Republic with the highest biodiversity. Flora, fauna, wildlife, historic cave paintings and secluded islands – Los Haitises National Park has it all. It’s a long drive from Punta Cana (2.5 hours) but it is worth it.
Pro tip: if you want to truly explore Los Haitises National Park, rent a car and head on a 2-day road trip to Los Haitises National Park incl. an overnight stay at the amazing eco-lodge of the park*.
Scape Park Cap Cana:
Scape Park Cap Cana is not my personal favorite, but if you are traveling as a family to Punta Cana and Tropical Deluxe Princess, it is hard to beat the combination of attractions and things to do in this tropical theme park. Just think of the famous Blue Lagoon, the several artificial waterfalls and water playgrounds and the 12-cable zipline which sends you right into the water. Great family fun is guaranteed at Scape Park Cap Cana, particularly for older kids.
Family buggy adventure:
Last but not least another family excursion that is popular when traveling to Punta Cana with kids: a family buggy adventure. Especially those tours that are offering an ATV/Polaris option are particularly interesting, as those vehicles are safer with kids compared to the dune buggies. Have fun while getting wet and muddy and seeing some of the hidden gems of the Dominican countryside.
Summary
After all, we definitely enjoyed our stay at Tropical Deluxe Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana. Considering the price level, the resort does a fantastic job. The rooms are super modern, the beach is beautiful, the views from the Beach House are amazing and the prices of Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana are pretty cheap. But where is the catch?
I am sorry to disappoint you, but there is no catch, which is why we can absolutely recommend the Tropical Deluxe Princess, particularly if a fantastic beach and contemporary rooms are important. While the food can’t compare 100% with its sister resort Grand Bavaro Princess (which is usually more expensive), it is sufficient for a couple of days. If staying more than one week, food options might be a bit too limited, especially at the buffet, but for most guests staying 4-5 nights, this is not the case anyway.
Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana and Caribe Deluxe Princess Punta Cana are two resorts suitable for many different types of travelers – especially when visiting Punta Cana on a budget. Couples, families, single travelers, groups of friends or a girls’ getaway – the price-value ratio is excellent and in case premium liquor is important for you, you still can upgrade to the Platinum Package once you are there. Just vegans shouldn’t visit this Punta Cana resort, the choice of plant-based food options was subpar.
The most important feature I don’t want to miss is the (adults-only) Beach House bar on the second floor with spectacular views of the ocean and the perfect place to chill with a drink in the afternoon or the evening.
However, in our opinion, Tropical Deluxe Princess is particularly suitable for families, especially due to the many family amenities such as minigolf, the water park, the teens club and the well-designed and super functional family amenities. Therefore, if you are looking for an affordable family resort in Punta Cana, Tropical Deluxe Princess is your place to go.
